Philippines gets 866,970 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines
The Philippines received an additional 866,970 doses of government procured Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Thursday.
According to the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, the latest batch of vaccine doses landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
Dr. Ma. Paz Corrales, NTF Against COVID-19 medical consultant, thanked the United States government for facilitating the delivery of the fresh batch of vaccine.
“This will be used for the pediatric vaccination and also for the use for the first quarter of next year,” Corrales said.
Corrales said the country had already administered one million jabs a day, and 36,338,077 have received their first dose while 39% are already fully vaccinated as of November 10.
The country earlier received three million doses of government-procured Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said on Wednesday that the government is seeking to administer five million doses daily during the national vaccination days from November 29 to December 1.
Earlier, the government said that it aimed to administer 1 to 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines daily, starting November 20, to speed up the vaccination program. -NB, GMA News
