Stand for Truth looks to explain issues, cut disinformation with 'On Spotlight'

Stand for Truth, GMA News and Public Affairs Digital’s pioneering online newscast, has debuted "On Spotlight", a segment which seeks to clear disinformation and explain the pressing issues the public needs to understand.

In its first offering, the segment hosted by GMA News senior reporter Joseph Morong looks into the Philippines' use of COVID-19 response funds, the Commission on Audit findings and Senate Blue Ribbon Committee proceedings.

“Stand for Truth is a program that presupposes a search for facts and 'On Spotlight' is an extension of that objective," Morong said. "News cycles can be fast and often times some crucial issues fall through the cracks. And some issues can be complicated and convoluted."

"‘On Spotlight’ meets these two challenges. It focuses on important issues and tries to explain it straightforwardly. It highlights the issues that are important and their implications so that at the end of the day, the public will have an informed opinion," he added.

Stand for Truth is anchored by Morong and powered by millennial and Gen-Z reporters who produce weekly in-depth, mobile journalism pieces.
