IATF releases guidelines on closure of cemeteries during Undas 2021

The Inter-Agency Task Force has passed a resolution ordering the closure of all cemeteries in the country from October 29 to November 2, 2021 to minimize the risk of superspreader events during Undas.

In the pre-recorded weekly Talk to the People on Tuesday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the public may visit cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaria before October 29 or after November 2.

During these allowable visits, visitors must be limited to 10 persons per group, and the venue must only allow 30% of capacity, though this can be raised to 50% if the local government unit authorizes it.

Law enforcers and barangay officials are also expected to enforce the resolution, Año also said.

The IATF also authorized LGUs all over the country to pass an ordinance to implement the Undas measures, Año further pointed out.

Some Metro Manila local governments earlier ordered the closure of cemeteries in their cities during the Undas period. — BM, GMA News
