720K doses of Sputnik V vaccine arrive in Philippines
The Philippines received at least 720,000 doses of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine, procured by the national government.
State media PTV reported that the shipment of the Russian-made jabs arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Saturday afternoon.
The fresh batch of vaccines includes 360,000 doses for component I, and 360,000 doses of component II.
National Task Force Against COVID-19 special adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa expressed gratitude to the Russian government for the largest delivery of Sputnik V.
“We do hope that it will help a lot in our vaccination programs. The other good news is we have reached over 92 million doses delivered to the Filipino people by the different brands,” Herbosa said in an interview during the arrival of the vaccines.
About 271,440 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 meanwhile are expected to arrive this Saturday evening.
On Friday night, the country welcomed more than one million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine doses were also procured by the government. —LBG, GMA News
