The Philippines received 844,800 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines on Friday afternoon.
The fresh batch of vaccine doses, which arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, was donated by the German government through the COVAX facility.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed his gratitude to the German government for the delivery of the AstraZeneca jabs.
“Over 400,000 Filipinos will benefit from these vaccines and this means more than 400,000 of our countrymen will be saved from severe COVID-19 complications and death,” he said, adding the doses would be delivered to the provinces.
Another batch of Pfizer vaccine doses was scheduled to arrive in the country on Friday night, according to the National Task Force Against COVID-19. — VBL, GMA News
