Nagkaisa labor coalition chair Matula files candidacy for senator

Labor leader, Atty. Sonny Matula, on Thursday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator in Eleksyon 2022.

Matula sits as the chairperson of Nagkaisa! Labor Coalition and president of the Federation of Free Workers (FFW).

Matula lamented the state of laborers amid the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the lack of financial assistance to displaced workers.

If elected in the Senate, the labor leader vowed to push for safe places for workers.

“Workers have been left behind in governance and decision making...In the last five years, more than 50 workers have been killed just for organizing workers. Recognizing rights at work is one of the pillars of decent work” he said.

Matula said he filed his COC on the World Day for Decent Work. -NB, GMA News
