Herbert Bautista, Monsour del Rosario file COC for senator in Eleksyon 2022

Former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista and former Makati representative Monsour del Rosario on Wednesday filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for senator in Eleksyon 2022.

Bautista and Del Rosario are among the senatorial bets being considered in the slate of the tandem of Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

Bautista is with Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) which is chaired by Sotto while Del Rosario is with Demokratikong Reporma Party (Reporma) which is chaired by Lacson.

The former QC mayor thanked his former constituents, including the incumbent leaders of the city.

“Ito po ang kauna-unahang journey ko sa larangan ng public service after more than three decades of serving the people of Quezon City,” he said.

(This is my first journey in public service after more than three decades of serving the people of Quezon City.)

“Maraming salamat po at naging bahagi kayo ng buhay ko. Marami po akong natutunan sa inyo at sana po ay tulungan ninyo po ako sa panibagong yugto ng aking buhay upang makatulong naman tayo sa nakakarami, hindi lamang sa Quezon City, kundi sa buong bansa,” he added.

(We thank all of the people of Quezon City, you have become a part of my life. I have learned from you and I hope you could help me in this new chapter of my life, so that I could help more people, not only in Quezon City but in the whole country.)

On the other hand, Del Rosario is banking on his legislative accomplishments in the House of Representatives.

He cited the Telecommuting Act of 2018 as one of his authored measures that he was proud of.

Sitting as Makati City councilor for three years and congressman for three years, Del Rosario said his experience will be beneficial to the country.

“I think this will be very beneficial for us and for me in the Senate in case we make it, and with my kind of dedication and how I serve the country will be a very big asset,” he said.

Del Rosario said he has “fresh ideas and new perspective” to bring in the Senate and he also has the “KKK” or Kakayahan, Katapatan, Katapangan which is the campaign motto of the Lacson and Sotto tandem.

According to Sotto, they will finalize their senatorial slate after the period of COC filing.

“We will finalize over the weekend,” Sotto told reporters.—AOL, GMA News
