Deputy Speaker Herrera files CONA for Bagong Henerasyon Party-list in Eleksyon 2022
Deputy Speaker Bernadette Herrera-Dy on Saturday filed the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) for the Bagong Henerasyon (BH) Party-list, with her as the party-list’s first nominee for the 2022 elections.
In a statement, Herrera-Dy said she would be running for her third term as the party-list’s first nominee.
“Ang Bagong Henerasyon Party-list ay may track record na ng pagtataguyod ng serbisyo publiko sa loob at labas ng Kongreso. Ramdam yan ng ating mga constituents sa pamamagitan ng samu’t saring livelihood programs sa iba’t bang bahagi ng bansa at sa mga bills na inihain namin na ngayon ay batas na,” Herrera said in a statement.
(The Bagong Henerasyon Party-list has a track record of advocating for public service in and out of Congress. Our constituents can feel that through our many livelihood programs in different parts of the country and the bills that we had filed that are now laws.)
According to Herrera-Dy, the BH party-list focuses on women’s, youth’s, and children’s welfare, micro-small-medium enterprise (MSMEs) support, consumer protection, and public health promotion.
Herrera-Dy said that among the BH party-list’s notable accomplishments in terms of legislation in the 18th Congress were:
- RA 11466 - Salary Standardization Law of 2019 (HB 2027, 2028, and 2029)
- RA 11534 - Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE)
- RA 11509 - Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program (HB 4315)
- RA 11494 - Bayanihan to Recover As One Act
- RA 11525 - COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021
Herrera-Dy sponsored the landmark bill on banning child marriages (HB 9943), which was recently ratified by Congress and is now awaiting President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature for it to become a law.
“I likewise will push for the passage of the Department of Water, Sewage, and Sanitation Act (HB 1358) and Water Commission Act (HB 2172). The twin-bill seeks to have an agency accountable, coherent and effective management of our country’s water resources that shall usher universal access to water and sanitation,” Herrera said. — DVM, GMA News
