PNP records 138 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total to 37,197
The total number of COVID-19 cases among the personnel of the Philippine National Police is now 37,197, with 138 new infections reported on Monday.
In an update, the PNP said 34,403 have already recovered from the disease while 2,685 are still active cases.
The death toll due to COVID-19 among the police organization remained at 109.
On Sunday, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar identified the latest fatality as a 37-year-old police master sergeant.
The officer experienced mild symptoms on August 28 and his RT-PCR test returned positive, according to the PNP.
On August 30, he was transferred to a hospital when he experienced difficulty in breathing.
