Duterte goes into tirade vs. human rights advocates anew, defends anti-drug campaign
President Rodrigo Duterte opened his Talk to the Nation with a new tirade against human rights advocates as he gave updates on the administration’s anti-drug campaign.
In a taped briefing aired Saturday morning, Duterte showed photos of two individuals who were killed during drug operations in Bacoor, Cavite last September 9.
“Kaya ‘yung mga gusto talaga, don’t give me that shit about human rights. ‘Yan ang gusto ninyo? ‘Yan ang ibigay ko sa inyo,” Duterte said.
(Those who are criticizing me, don’t give me that shit about human rights. That’s what you want? That’s what I will give you.)
In the said operations, law enforcers seized one kilo of suspected shabu and another 180 kilograms of suspected shabu. The estimated values are P600 and P1.224 billion, respectively.
“I have nothing but contempt for this. I would have wanted to spare your… especially in front of your family, ‘yung mga namamatay (those who will die) but I have to do it to impress upon everybody the severity of consequence kung magsalubong tayo (if we go up against each other),” the President said, renewing his threat against those who are involved in illegal drugs.
Duterte likewise reported the drug operations in Imus, Cavite last September 9, where law enforcers seized 48 kilograms of shabu worth P331.2 million. Two individuals were arrested.
“This will be the drugs that will make them crazy permanently, making them inutile citizens of the country. Kapag dumami ‘yan puro inutil na ang Pilipino. Saan mo ilagay ang Pilipinas? (If they [drug pushers] will increase, Filipinos will become unproductive. Where will you put the Philippines?),” he said. —KG, GMA News
