2 to 3 tropical cyclones to enter the PAR in September –PAGASA

Two to three tropical cyclones are likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in September 2021, PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said Tuesday.

In a 4 p.m. weather update, Rojas said the assigned names of the three tropical cyclones, once they enter the country, are Jolina, Kiko and Lannie.

Their Climate Monitoring and Prediction Section (CLIMPS) meanwhile said that the tropical cyclones may make landfall over Samar and Luzon.

However, there was a high probability that the tropical cyclones will make landfall in the Cagayan Valley Region.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is still affecting the Philippines on Tuesday afternoon.

It is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon province, Marinduque, Romblon, and the Mindoro Provinces.

The ITCZ will also bring rain over Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines, which may cause possible flash floods or landslides if the thunderstorms are severe. — DVM, GMA News
