Philippines receives over 580K more AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses


A total of 582,500 more doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the country on Friday, according to Jhomer Apresto's report on Super Radyo dzBB.

The latest batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 1 at around 9:20 a.m. via China Airlines flight CI701.

The latest batch is part of the 6 million doses that the private sector procured under its A Dose of Hope Program, which covers a thousand companies.

As of Thursday, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said a total of 45,940,390 of COVID-19 vaccine doses from different brands have been delivered to the Philippines.

On Friday afternoon, 739,200 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in the country as part of the 1 million doses donation by China.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Wednesday said the government could focus on purchasing COVID-19 vaccine doses from Pfizer and Moderna once the delivery of their supply stabilizes.

The Philippines has logged a total of 1,791,003 cases, of which 1,648,402 have recovered, and 30,881 have died. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
