VP Leni looks back on Jesse Robredo’s underwater marker on his 9th death anniversary
On the ninth death anniversary of her husband Jesse Robredo, Vice President Leni Robredo looked back to her visit to the site where his plane crashed.
In a Facebook post, Leni shared a photo where she witnessed the installation of Robredo’s underwater marker in the waters off Masbate, a year after his death.
“Eight years ago, one year after Jesse’s death, I was in Masbate to witness the installation of an underwater marker at the exact site where the plane carrying Jesse was found,” she said.
“It was a very difficult time to be in the middle of the sea, visiting the exact same spot where his plane crashed,” she added.
Robredo, Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government under the Aquino administration, died in a plane crash on August 18, 2012.
Before joining Aquino's Cabinet, Robredo served as a long-time mayor of Naga, where he was recognized for his integrity and innovations in governance.
He also received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, the first Filipino mayor given the honor. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
