PNP death toll due to COVID-19 now at 87

The Philippine National Police on Monday said the death toll within the police organization due to COVID-19 reached 87.
In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the latest fatality was a 43-year-old police staff master sergeant assigned in northern Metro Manila.
The policeman succumbed to acute respiratory failure secondary to severe pneumonia caused by COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 152 more police officers tested positive for the illness, bringing the PNP's total COVID-19 case count to 31,497.
Total recoveries also rose to 29,737 after 57 more cops defeated the viral disease.
So far, there are 1,673 active cases within the police organization. — DVM, GMA News
