Gordon in hospital due to COVID-19-linked pneumonia
Senator Richard Gordon was admitted to the Makati Medical Center on Wednesday evening due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Upon the advice of his physician, Senator Dick Gordon was admitted last night to the Makati Medical Center for observation and further testing related to COVID-19,” read a statement released by his office Thursday afternoon.
The initial COVID-19 panel test results and CT-scan findings showed that the 75-year-old senator is suffering from COVID-related pneumonia.
“Senator Gordon is being treated accordingly and will remain at MMC until further notice,” the statement read.
On Wednesday morning, Gordon disclosed that he had contracted the respiratory disease.
His case was asymptomatic, but he noticed changes in his health when he had a hard time falling asleep.
The senator said he was already fully vaccinated against COVID-19 using the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Gordon was the sixth senator to catch COVID-19.
The other senators who tested positive for the disease were Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senators Sonny Angara, Aquilino Pimentel III, Ronald dela Rosa, and Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.
