Duterte pushes Cabinet men to run for Senate

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday urged some Cabinet members to run for senator in Eleksyon 2022, saying that the country really "needs them badly."

Instead of the briefing starting with pandemic response, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade presented the completed projects of the transport department. Duterte then lauded his work and urged him to go for a senatorial bid.

"I'd like to congratulate you we still have few months to go I hope you consider running for senator of the Republic of the Philippines," said Duterte in his taped Talk to the People on Wednesday night. 

"Sayang ka, nanghihinayang ako sa inyo, si [Public Works Secretary Mark] Villar sa ibang Cabinet members diyan," said Duterte.

The President also called his chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo "Senator," saying, "Sayang ka kung nandiyan ka sa tabi-tabi, pakinabangan yung utak mo ng mga Pilipino." — BM, GMA News
