PNP personnel with COVID-19 now at 29,948
The Philippine National Police on Tuesday reported 173 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among its personnel, raising the total tally to 29,948.
The PNP said total recoveries also rose by 120 to 28,743, while the death toll remained at 80.
So far, there are 1,125 active COVID-19 cases within the police organization.
The Philippines has so far reported 1,562,420 COVID-19 cases, of whom 1,478,625 have recovered and 27,318 have died.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the capital region saw a nearly 50% increase in new COVID-19 cases this week compared to the week before.
Duque urged “aggressive” case finding, testing, and contact tracing, among other efforts, to stem COVID-19 transmission. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
