Palace faults Robredo for her experiences under Duterte admin

Malacañang on Wednesday faulted Vice President Leni Robredo for her experiences under the Duterte administration, adding it will not be the same if ever President Rodrigo Duterte becomes her successor in 2022.

"Talagang tayo ang tumatahak ng ating tadhana. Ganyan ang tadhana ng pinili ni Vice President Robredo. Iba ang magiging tadhana niya (Duterte) kung siya ay magiging vice president," presidential spokesperson Harry Roque told Unang Balita.

(We chart our own path and she chose her path. The President will chart a different course.)

Roque was responding to Robredo's statement that she is wishing Duterte will not have the same experiences she has in the event he wins as vice president in 2022.

Roque said it was Robredo who decided to become an "ornament in the administration" when she chose to become the leader of the opposition despite the Cabinet post given to her by Duterte.

"Binigyan po ng Cabinet post si Vice President Robredo as housing czar pero siya po ang namili na maging leader ng oposisyon kaya naging palamuti po siya sa limang taon," he said.

(She was given a Cabinet post as housing czar but she decided to lead the opposition, so she became an ornament in the administration for five years.)

Robredo quit her post as housing czar in December 2016, five months after her appointment when she was barred from attending Cabinet meetings.

Since then Robredo, widow of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, has become the recipient of Duterte's sharp tirades. —KBK, GMA News
