5,916 more Philippine COVID-19 cases logged; total cases at 1,473,025
The Philippines reported 5,916 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the country's total tally to 1,473,025.
The Department of Health said the new infections brought the number of active cases in the country to 49,701, of which 89.3% are mild, 5% are asymptomatic, 2.4% are severe, and 1.5% are in critical condition.
Total recoveries also rose to 1,397,403 after 6,127 more people defeated the illness.
The death toll, meanwhile, climbed to 25,921 with 105 new fatalities.
The DOH said 10 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 53 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
The DOH also said three laboratories were unable to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
Data from the DOH showed that 56% of the country's intensive care unit beds and 37% of the mechanical ventilators are utilized.
In the National Capital Region, 40% of the ICU beds and 32% of the ventilators are in use. — DVM, GMA News
