Robredo-led OVP gets COA's 'highest rating' for third straight year

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has received the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (COA) for the third straight year, a post on Vice President Leni Robredo's Facebook page showed.

The post said COA gave the OVP an "unqualified opinion" for its financial statement in the fiscal year 2020.

In auditing terms, a firm or agency gets an "unqualified opinion" or "clean opinion" when an auditor determines that its financial records are free of misrepresentations and comply with accounting principles.

"Ang nasabing rating ay kumikilala sa masinop na pagtatala natin ng finances ng ating opisina," the statement read.

"Itinuturing rin natin itong bunga ng pagsisikap ng OVP na siguruhing tumutupad ito sa rules and regulations ng mga oversight agencies, at pati na rin sa internal controls upang matiyak ang wastong paggastos ng pera ng bayan," it added.

[The rating shows how carefully we conduct our auditing. This also shows the efforts of OVP to follow rules and regulations of oversight agencies and internal controls to make sure there are no discrepancies in using public funds.]

Nonetheless, the OVP said it is still open for "points of improvement" from recommendations of state auditors to enhance its services to the public.

The COA also granted the OVP "unqualified opinion" for the fiscal years 2018 and 2019. —Llanesca T. Panti/NB, GMA
