Mourners still paying Noynoy respects at Manila Memorial Park

Days after former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was laid to rest, supporters continued to mourn the former leader's death at the Manila Memorial Park.

According to Dano Tingcungco's "24 Oras" report, among the mourners was Lea Garvida who even brought her campaign ID and other items that she used when she volunteered during Aquino's presidential campaign in 2010.

"Isang presidente na dapat pasalamatan, maraming nagawa sa mamamayan," said Garvida.

(He is a president that we need to thank for all of his contributions to the public.)

Cherry Solis, 61, came from Cavite to visit Aquino, who was laid to rest beside his parents. Solis' mother was also a supporter of the former President.

"'Yung mother ko nagtawag sa akin, nung napanood nila sa paglibing ni Noynoy Aquino sabi niya: 'Pumunta ka naman bukas,'" Solis said.

(My mom found out that Aquino was buried so she asked me to go there.)

"Kasi nung namatay si President Cory Aquino nandito siya," she added.

(My mom was also here when Cory Aquino died.)

Herbert Dominguez also visited Aquino's grave wearing the shirt he used during Aquino's 2010 presidential run. He said he was a student leader at De La Salle University when he joined the campaign.

Other mourners were supporters of the Aquinos since the Cory Aquino's presidency.

Meanwhile, flowers offered by mourners remained near Aquino's home along Times Street in Quezon City.

Aquino's urn was placed near the tombs of his parents, democracy icons former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino.
