IATF working on way to validate vaccination status of arrivals to Philippines

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) is looking to come up with a mechanism to validate the vaccination status of individuals entering the country.

During the Talk to the People briefing on Monday night, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said that the IATF is working with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Information Technology and Communications (DICT) on the matter.

"Malapit na po ito," Duque said. "Ilalabas ng IATF matapos magrekomenda ang ating technical advisory group of experts."

[This is coming up soon. The IATF will announce it after our technical advisory group of experts makes its recommendations.]

"Pag-aaralan din namin ito kasama ang all-experts group upang makabuo tayo ng updated pathways at makapagtakda tayo ng specific indicators o mga panukatan na magsasabing handa na tayong magluwag para sa mga fully vaccinated Filipinos and tourists," Duque added.

[We are studying this with an all-experts group to come up with updated pathways and specific indicators to determine if we are ready to loosen restrictions for fully vaccinated Filipinos and tourists.]

The country has so far recorded 1,276,004 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 21,969 fatalities. — BM, GMA News
