1Sambayan convener Howard Calleja on Monday hit the PDP-Laban national council's formal push for President Rodrigo Duterte to run as vice president in 2022 polls, saying it is a "mockery" of the 1987 Constitution.

In a tweet from GMA News Reporter Tina Panganiban Perez, Calleja said the alleged vice presidential run of Duterte is also "a joke of the worst kind."

"It is laughable and the height of impertinence to the Filipino people," said Calleja in a statement.

Calleja also said the move would only retain "Duterte's authoritarian brand of failed leadership."

"I am sure the Filipino people would see this as a macrocosm of the Davao formula and reject it as nothing more than ones self interest to maintain Dutertes authoritarian brand of failed leadership and traitorous allegiance to China," he pointed out.

In an earlier national assembly, the PDP-Laban national council adopted a resolution which also urged Duterte  to choose his running mate for president in the 2022 elections.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
