LRT-2 Marikina, Antipolo stations to open in less than a month
The Marikina and Antipolo stations of the LRT2 East Extension Project will become operational in less than a month, according to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras.”
Three to four kilometers will be added to the LRT2, which currently ends at the Santolan Station in Pasig.
“Malaking tulong ito lalo doon sa mga kababayan natin na nandito sa area na ito,” Atty. Hernando Cabrera, Light Rail Transit Authority spokesperson, said.
(This will be helpful for our countrymen in this area.)
“Kasi dati-rati, ang end of the line natin is Santolan, so ‘yung mga kababayan natin dito, napipilitan pa silang sumakay ng van, ng bus, or jeep,” he added.
(Before, the Santolan station is the end of the line, so the public here is forced to commute by van, bus, or jeepney.)
An estimated 80,000 passengers will benefit from the additional stations.
The Department of Transportation also said the travel time from Recto, Manila to Masinag, Antipolo will decrease to 40 minutes from the three hours by bus or jeepney.
“‘Yan na po ‘yung kasagutan. Kasagutan doon sa ano, madali makapagpahinga pagdating sa trabaho lalo’t mas napapagod po ako sa byahe, hindi sa trabaho,” Manuel Abrahan, a commuter, said.
(This is the answer. This is the answer that will allow me to rest easier after work, because I find the commute more tiring than my job.)
Passengers from Recto to Marikina will pay P30 for a single journey ticket.
On Saturday, authorities will conduct a test run for the line.
Due to this, the Light Rail Transit Line 2 will impose a "degraded operation" in the last two Saturdays and Sundays of May. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
