DOLE, gov't agencies open 44K jobs amid rise in displaced workers

Over 44,000 jobs are available in the Philippines and overseas as more displaced workers were reported during the pandemic, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Thursday.

According to JP Soriano's "24 Oras" report, 36,951 job vacancies are available locally while 7,174 jobs are being offered abroad.

Among the top local vacant jobs are production operator, factory worker, customer service representative, police officer, contact tracers, sewer, mason, carpenter, and rebarman.

Top vacant jobs overseas include nurse, factory worker, mechanic, nursing aid, healthcare assistant, and cleaners.

Interested applicants must go to DOLE's online job fairs per region.

According to DOLE-Bureau of Employment Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay, job seekers should also prepare themselves in case their employer asks them for an online interview.

After collecting data from 4,465 employers nationwide, DOLE said a total of 118,210 people lost their jobs due to the pandemic. In Metro Manila, 71,431 workers were displaced.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
