SC Justice Amy Javier replaces Gesmundo at House electoral tribunal

Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Amy Lazaro Javier is now a member of the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET).

Javier, who joined the high court in March 2019, replaced Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, who is now the head of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET). Her appointment took effect on April 6, according to the order issued by Gesmundo.

Gesmundo did not change the membership of the SC contingent in the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET), which is chaired by Senior Associate Justice Estela Perlas Bernabe.

The SET and HRET decide all contests relating to the election, returns, and qualifications of members of the Senate and House, respectively.

The PET is the sole judge of protests regarding the presidential and vice presidential elections. -MDM, GMA News
