Failure to wear face shield is top violation in NCR Plus amid ECQ —PNP
Persons who fail to wear face shield remain the biggest headache of police enforcing the enhanced community quarantine the past two weeks.
A total of 26,939 individuals were found violating this COVID-19 health protocol, according to a report as of April 12 by Philippine National Police chief General Debold Sinas to President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday’s Cabinet briefing.
Those found violating for not wearing face mask total to 14,122, while persons who breached the regulation on mass gathering number at 341.
Those who did not observe social distancing total to 4,740.
Persons in breach of these heath protocols were either warned or fined, but no one was arrested.
Meanwhile, a total of 6,603 persons violated Republic Ac 11332 or the Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases. Of this number, 3,430 were arrested while the others were warned or fined.
On top of these, Sinas reported that 11,325 individuals were denied entry into the areas under NCR Plus bubble, while 15,247 were accosted for claiming to be Authorized Person Outside of Residence.
A total of 1,736 police personnel were deployed daily to enforce the ECQ, the PNP chief added.
Earlier, the Department of Health (DOH) reiterated that bikers and other active commuters are not required to wear face shields amid "increasing reports" of arrests.
The DOH said several memos have made clear that people engaged in “strenuous activities/work, fine workmanship, operation of transportation vehicles, and active transport are exempted from wearing face shields” since these could cause “possible vision impairment.”—LDF, GMA News
