Containers-turned-hospital completed soon amid surge of COVID-19 cases
The shipping containers converted into an offsite modular hospital at the Quezon Institute in Quezon City is expected to soon be finished amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
According to Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the modular hospital, which will be managed by personnel from the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, will have 98 COVID-19 beds, including 10 beds for critical patients.
JRRRMC medical director Dr. Emmanuel Montaña said they already interviewed staff for the modular hospital and are just completing the equipment needed for the facility.
“We want to vaccinate employees before they go to this institution,” Montaña added.
The modular hospital has negative pressure rooms with their own oxygen supply.
Health workers will also have their own dormitories inside the facility.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health said it will conduct a mass hiring for other COVID-19 referral hospitals.
The country has so far recorded a total of 693,048 COVID-19 cases including 99,891 active cases, 580,062 recoveries, and 13,095 deaths. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
