Philippine Navy to partner with French Navy in creating submarine force —Bacordo
The French Navy has committed to assist the Philippine Navy in the creation of a submarine force, Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo said on Tuesday.
Bacordo said they have enabled a high-level engagement between the two Navies in terms of naval cooperation and other interests during the bilateral meeting on March 12 in Paris with French Navy officials led by Admiral Pierre Vandier, chief of Naval Staff for the Marine Nationale.
“Most importantly, the French Navy committed to assist the Philippine Navy in the creation of a submarine force especially in terms of training and project management,” he said.
Aside from this, Bacordo said they have agreed to continue the Navy Senior Leaders visits and the conduct of regular Navy to Navy discussion to develop future cooperation and partnerships.
The French and Philippine Navies will also participate in bilateral and multilateral naval exercises, he added.
“By and large, the opportunity for interaction paved the way for the development of close and cordial relations between the two navies which could result to strategic partnership in the maritime domain,” he said. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
