525,600 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to arrive on Monday –Palace

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced on Saturday the Philippines would receive 525,600 doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine on Monday, March 1, 2021, at around noontime.

The AstraZeneca delivery was part of the first round of allocated doses from the COVAX facility.

"This forms part of the 44 million doses of COVAX to inoculate 20% of our population," explained Roque.

"We thank the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) towards this end."

Duterte vaccination

Meanwhile, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go told GMA News' Mav Gonzales that he, together with President Rodrigo Duterte, would be inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine.

"Inaantay na lang po namin yung pinagpipilian namin ng doktor na pwede sa kanyang (Pres. Duterte) edad at sa kanyang kalusugan," Go added.

"Gagawin namin ito not because prayoridad kami, kung 'di para ipakita sa publiko na dapat pong magtiwala tayo sa bakuna."

Go also revealed that 100,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine were allotted for the Defense Department's civilian employees and the military.

"Ready na [ang Veterans Memorial Medical Center] na mag-conduct ng kanilang pagbabakuna," he added.

"Si Sec. [Carlito] Galvez ang makakasagot kung saan ilalagay ang mga bakuna at anong oras, anong araw ang umpisa ng rollout ng pagbabakuna."

Go also said that COVID-19 vaccines would be sent to the Visayas and Mindanao next week. — DVM, GMA News
