Duterte appoints ex-PNP chief Cascolan as undersecretary under OP

Retired Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Camilo Pancratius Cascolan has been appointed undersecretary of the Office of the President.

Cascolan confirmed his new government role to GMA News Online by replying “Yes” when asked if he was indeed appointed to the post.

Malacañang has yet to release the document on Cascolan’s new appointment as of posting time.

Cascolan had earlier said that he is open to a government position after his retirement from the police force.

Cascolan retired in November 2020 after two months of serving as PNP Chief. He will join the list of former police and military generals appointed to the Duterte government after their retirement.

The list includes Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Carlito Galvez Jr, Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, Robert Empedrad as MARINA administrator, and Macairog Alberto as Philippine ambassador to Israel.  —Llanesca T. Panti with Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
