Nun in iconic 1986 EDSA revolt photo passes away at 63
A nun, who was one of the icons of the 1986 People Power Revolution, passed away on Tuesday. She was 63 years old.
According to the Daughters of St. Paul, Sr. Porferia “Pingping” Ocariza died after a long battle with cancer.

Ocariza was among the nuns who led the praying of the rosary in front of the police and military along EDSA in 1986.
A photo of her and Sr. Teresita Burias praying the rosary in front of soldiers became an iconic photograph of the revolution.
“Paalam, Sr. Pingping Ocariza! Magiting na sundalo ni Kristo, ipinaglaban mo ang kalayaan ng ating bayan. Ipinalaganap mo ang Mabuting Balita ng walang kapaguran. At hanggang sa huli, nagpatotoo ka sa kapangyarihan ng panalangin, pagtitiis at pangangalaga sa kalikasan,” the Daughters of St. Paul Philippines said.
