Lacson bats for restoration of QRF under PNP, BFP budgets in 2021
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) should be given a Quick Response Fund in their respective budgets next year because their personnel are also frontliners, Senator Panfilo Lacson said on Tuesday.
During the budget debates in the Senate, Lacson noted that P75 million each were appropriated for the QRF of the two agencies in the 2016 General Appropriations Act.
Senate Finance committee chairperson Sonny Angara, citing information from the agency representatives, said such allocation has not been released due to "'stringent requirements" that had not been met.
Lacson said he would move to amend the general appropriations bill to restore the QRFs under the PNP and the BFP.
The police would need P125 million while the BFP personnel would need P75 million for their QRFs, according to Angara who welcomed the proposal of Lacson.—AOL, GMA News
