Navy's BRP Quezon on lockdown after 22 personnel tested positive for COVID-19

A total of 22 personnel of the BRP Quezon (PS70) tested positive for COVID-19, the Philippine Navy said on Wednesday.

The Navy said the infected personnel, who are mostly asymptomatic, are now in isolation inside the Naval Base Cavite. It added that the one who has cough and cold is already admitted at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium quarantine facility.

The patients, who were swabbed last September 25, are under monitoring of the Fleet Medical Unit (FMU) of the Philippine Fleet. Coordination is being done for the immediate transfer of the patients to the quarantine facilities at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium and Rizal Memorial Center once a slot is available.

Due to this, the Navy asset is on lockdown. Moreover, the 25 personnel who had  tested negative for the disease would remain inside PS70 for a strict 14-day quarantine period.

The San Fernando City Health Office will facilitate the re-swabbing of the quarantined crew within the week, the Navy said.

The vessel already underwent misting and decontamination, according to the Navy.

The Navy vowed that it is steadfast in mitigating the impact of COVID-19 within its rank by strictly following the health and safety protocols enforced by the national government.—AOL, GMA News
