Coast Guard records almost 1,500 recoveries among COVID-infected personnel
The Philippine Coast Guard on Wednesday said nearly 1,500 personnel who got infected with COVID-19 have already recovered from the disease.
Latest data from the PCG showed that of the 1,569 infected personnel, a total of 1,492 have already recovered. The PCG noted that there are only 77 active cases among its personnel.
No death was also recorded, the PCG said.
In line with its effort to curb the transmission of COVID-19 among its men, the PCG is also set to formally open its quarantine facility, which can accommodate up to 224 frontliners, this month.
"This facility will allow the PCG Medical Service to better manage the active COVID-19 cases within the organization for their speed recovery and rehabilitation," the PCG said.
Regular swab testing is also being done, according to the PCG.
Further, the PCG leadership also ensured the regular supply of vitamins, PPE sets, and medical supplies; implementation of strategic deployment to ensure that frontline personnel have rest periods and work breaks; preparation of nutritious meals to boost their immune system; and utilization of UV lights to augment the manual disinfection of work stations and billeting areas. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
