Quirino governor expresses doubt province 100% COVID-free
Quirino Governor Dakila Cua on Monday admitted that the province might not really be free of COVID-19 due to lack of testing.
“Of course, we cannot say 100 percent certain na whether COVID is present in Quirino or not. We have not done mass testing,” he said in a public briefing.
Due to this, Cua said the local government is still strictly implementing health measures under the modified enhanced community quarantine.
He said they are still enforcing curfew hours, liquor ban, and border control. According to him, all persons who will enter the province should fill out a health declaration.
Cua, who is also the president of Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), attributed the zero COVID-19 case in Quirino to the coordination of authorities and residents.
“It's really a concerted effort para po kaming isang malaking pamilya na nagkakaunawaan, nakikipag-ugnayan at sumusuporta,” he said.
“Despite the hassles, alam ko pong napeperwisyo ang ating kababayan kahit papaano they are respecting and collaborating,” he added.
According to Cua, only Quirino’s tourism development was affected by the restrictions tied to the pandemic crisis. -NB, GMA News
