Cavite quarantine violator injured after allegedly trying to escape
A quarantine violator who was arrested in Cavite on Wednesday had head and body injuries after allegedly trying to escape.
According to police reports, Ronald Campo was among those arrested by the General Trias Component City Police Station SWAT team in Barangay San Francisco.
When he was brought to the police station, Campo, who was inebriated, allegedly immediately ran away heading towards Barangay 1896, with police giving chase.
The suspect reportedly tried to jump over a concrete fence. However, he slipped and fell. This was how he ended up with injuries, according to authorities.
Campo then tried to hide in a house in the area, but barangay watchmen cornered the suspect.
He was brought to the General Emilio Memorial Hospital at Trece Martires City for immediate treatment.
Campo will be charged for the violation of RA 11332, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or the agents of such person, violation of curfew and liquor ban, and qualified trespass to dwelling.
However, reports said two police personnel mauled him, causing him injuries.
General Trias Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlon Solero said he relieved the two cops to give way to the impartial investigation of the Internal Affairs Service of the province.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said an investigation will be conducted.
"Paiimbestigahan po natin iyan. Tatawagan natin mismo si PNP (Philippine National Police) chief (Archie) Gamboa at titingnan po natin kung anong nangyari diyan," he said.
Roque said those found violating any law will be prosecuted.
"Alam ninyo naman po sa ating gobyerno no one is above the law. Kung talagang may lumabag sa batas mayroon naman pong imbestigasyon, paglilitis at pagpaparusa," he said. — DVM/KG, GMA News
