PSPG police officers receive face shields, masks from private sector

Personnel from the Philippine National Police-Police Security and Protection Group, serving as frontliners during the COVID-19 health crisis, received protective medical gear from the private sector.

Several of the face shields and washable masks were distributed by the PSPG Advisory Council Director Police Brigadier General Marcelo Morales, and by businessman and Council Chairman Dr. Reghis Romero last April 24.

According to a press statement, Romero, chairman of R-II Builders, donated the protective gear to the PSPG.

"These PPEs are intended to protect our troops while they keep our community safe at the risk of their own lives,” Romero said.

Morales, for his part, said the donated protective gear symbolized the strong cooperation between the government and the private sector.

“The face shields are just the initial logistical supplies that form part of our PPE (personal protective equipment),” Morales said.

“Another batch of PPEs consisting of thousands of washable facemasks has been donated by Dr. Romero to the PSPG for its personnel,” he added.

Security officers from the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines were tasked to strictly implement the enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
