PSG: Duterte’s foreign travels suspended over COVID-19 fears
President Rodrigo Duterte’s foreign travels, especially to countries with confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 cases, have been suspended as his government tackles the threat of the deadly disease.
This was announced by the Presidential Security Group (PSG), which has taken measures to protect Duterte from the virus, on Thursday.
“For now, all President Duterte’s foreign travels, especially to those countries with confirmed cases of COVID-19, have been suspended as recommended by [the] DOH [Department of Health],” the PSG said.
The PSG did not say how long the suspension on foreign travels will last as the 36th Association of Southeast Nations Summit takes place next month in Vietnam, a country with confirmed cases of the virus.
