Duterte appoints Kat de Castro to PTV post, names ex-PhilHealth prexy Roy Ferrer as DOH exec

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed several government officials this month, according to a list released by Malacañang on Monday.

The list included former IBC president Katherine “Kat” De Castro who was appointed board director at the People’s Television Network, Inc. and former Philippine Health Insurance Corporation acting president now Health Assistant Secretary Roy Ferrer.

De Castro, a daughter of former Vice President Noli De Castro, had also served as undersecretary at the Department of Tourism.

Ferrer, meanwhile, resigned from PhilHealth in June last year over the controversy involving the alleged funding of dialysis treatment for patients who are already deceased. Duterte, however, had said he did not doubt Ferrer's integrity and honesty.

The President also formalized the appointment of former Philippine Air Force chief Rozzano Briguez as board director at the PNOC Exploration Corporation and named Health Undersecretary Enrique Domingo Food and Drug Administration director general.

Domingo replaced Nela Charade Puno who was fired by Duterte in May last year due to corruption allegations.

Duterte also appointed lawyer Lorna Kapunan as member of the board of trustees of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Trade Undersecretary Rowel Barba as director general of the Intellectual Property Office.

The new appointees also included ambassadors (Imelda Panolong - Oman;
Mohd Noordin Lomondot - Kuwait), judges, prosecutors, officials of the Department of Education, and other government agencies. —KBK, GMA News
