PMA Homecoming 2020 moved to later date —alumni association

The Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. has postponed the PMA Homecoming this year to a later date, due to the new coronavirus threat.

In a statement on Thursday, the PMAAAI said the event will be moved to February 22 at Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City, citing health and public safety concerns.

According to the statement, the decision to move the homecoming to a later date was arrived at with the help of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Allan Cusi.

The PMAAAI advised alumni classes –especially the Jubilarians –to exercise their best judgements on how to proceed with their individual class events in view of the adjustment in the schedule.

Likewise, the PMAAAI said the city government already coordinated with the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Baguio.

Cavalier-members who have prior reservations are advised to call their respective hotel and request for a rebooking, according to the PMAAAI, noting there will be no surcharge or fee.

Earlier, the PMA announced it is temporarily closed to visitors to protect its cadets against the spread of nCoV.

Latest data from the Department of Health indicate that the Philippines has three confirmed cases of the disease. One of them died last February 1.  —Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG, GMA News
