Locals continue returning to Taal Volcano despite danger zone warning
Residents were seen returning to Taal's Volcano Island despite authorities setting a permanent danger zone around the volcano, according to Chino Gaston's Saturday report on "24 Oras Weekend."
The locals were seen walking around the ash-covered Volcano Island as a PHIVOLCS team arrived to repair a seismic monitoring station on the island.
In San Nicolas, Batangas, there was nothing for goats and cows to graze on because the entire area was covered in volcanic ash.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), authorities had already placed markers on Taal Lake to remind the public of the seven-kilometer danger zone around the volcano.
"Ini-implement pa rin natin 'yung no man's land and danger zone, permanent danger zone 'yung island itself and the area within the seven-kilometer radius is considered as danger zone," said Task Force Taal Chief Commodore Artemio Abu.
The PCG thus urged residents to refrain from going back to the island for own their safety.
