Duterte’s vision for a better PHL already a reality – Medialdea

President Rodrigo Duterte’s vision for a “better Philippines” had been fulfilled despite there still being less than three years to go before the administration bowed out, claimed Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

Medialdea led the Cabinet in presenting the administration’s accomplishments under the “Duterte Legacy Campaign," which was launched on Friday by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) in Pasay City.

In his speech, Medialdea credited Duterte’s political will and resolve to uplift the general welfare of the people through programs such as free tuition in state universities and colleges, the rehabilitation of Boracay, the cleanup of Manila Bay, universal health care, and the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for the early fulfillment of the President's vision.

He also pointed to the decline in poverty incidence to 16.6 percent in 2018 and the government’s ambitious “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program which he said had generated more than 4 million jobs.

During the launch, beneficiaries delivered testified to the efficacy of the government's programs.

“Leadership, indeed, draws its strength from the people,” PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar chimed in his speech.

“Through progressive timelines, we have witnessed how the people have continuously supported and accepted the leadership and guidance of Mayor-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.”

Andanar also promised that the PCOO create a documentary series, podcast, and magazine as part of an information campaign that would center on the government's accomplishments in the areas of peace and order, infrastructure development, and poverty alleviation.

Other Cabinet members who made presentations during the event included Education Secretary Leonor Briones, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr.

“They will prove to you that the President’s vision for a better Philippines is already a reality,” Medialdea said.

“The real change we have all yearned for so long is now happening. We have made significant starts, pioneered initiatives and accomplished impressive milestones as a nation during the first half of the Duterte administration.”
