Robredo: LP didn’t file ICC complaint vs. Duterte on drug war killings

The Liberal Party (LP) is not one of the parties that filed a complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC) amid the ongoing drug war deaths, Vice President Leni Robredo said Thursday.

Robredo was referring to the claims made by Jude Sabio, a lawyer who asked that the ICC set aside his complaint against President Duterte because “it is a part of the political propaganda of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Senator Leila de Lima, and LP-led opposition” which he does not want to be part of.

Hindi ko alam kung sino iyong mini-mean niya sa LP na kausap niya,” Robredo, who serves as LP chairperson, said in an interview in Caloocan City where she attended a forum on community-based rehabilitation center.

Robredo challenged Sabio to name the LP members who supposedly schemed on such ICC complaint with him.

“Kailangang pangalanan. Kasi kapag hindi niya papangalanan, nadadamay iyong mga wala namang kaalam-alam,” Robredo said.

Political ploy

At the same time, the Vice President questioned the motive behind Sabio’s move, considering that Sabio was assisted by lawyer Larry Gadon—a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte and one of the lawyers of the police who have filed sedition charges against Robredo and other opposition figures and drug war critics.

— RSJ, GMA News
