The day it ‘rained’ money at NAIA

Operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were briefly disrupted Friday afternoon after two Mindanao governors played Santa Claus and distributed P1,000 bills. Q-11 television reported that Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan and his father Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan distributed the bills shortly after arriving at NAIA. The report said the two governors distributed the money near the VIP lounge, before a 5:20 p.m. flight for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It said pandemonium resulted as people near the Duty-Free Shop and the final check-in area scrambled to receive the P1,000 bills. Radio dzRH reported Friday that both Ampatuans distributed bills for “30 to 40 minutes" before security personnel intervened and “escorted" them out of the area. On the other hand, some immigration personnel reportedly took the bills offered to them as well. - GMANews.TV
