Typhoon Tisoy leaves trail of destruction across PHL
When the relative calm came after the heavy rains and strong winds of Typhoon Tisoy, damage and destruction greeted the residents of affected areas as some of them head back home.
A truck in Oriental Mindoro moved a few meters from where it was parked due to the winds brought by Typhoon Tisoy, according to a report by Chino Gaston on 24 Oras.
In Odiongan, Romblon, the streets were littered with branches of trees that fell at the height of the typhoon.
A number of homes remain without water supply, following the voluntary shut down to prevent further damage.
In Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, over 2,000 residents were evacuated from the homes near the sea.
More than 1,000 individuals were moved out of their houses to safety in Calapan City.
In Virac, Catanduanes, waves rammed through structures in coastal barangays despite a seawall.
Electric posts were toppled because of the strong winds in Camarines Norte.
In Legazpi City, the wind caused a portion of the ceiling of the domestic airport to collpase and glass windows to get shattered. A school was also damaged.
In Samar, over a thousand residents were evacuated at the height of the typhoon. No vessel was allowed to ply in Catbalogan Port which was rammed by waves.
A man was injured after being hit by a fallen coconut tree in Daet, Camarines Norte.
Around 50 families were brought to a safe location in Batangas City as Tisoy made its way in the province.
The over 300 passengers stranded in Batangas Port were also made to stay in an evacuation center.
San Fernando, Masbate was not spared by Tisoy's onslaught as houses can be seen flattened due to the wind and rain. Residents are wary that the fishing boats they use for their livelihood could be destroyed as well.
In Marinduque, the water in the Boac River turned brown due to mud. A makeshift travelling show now needs repairs after sustaining damage from the typhoon.
At the Lipata Port in Surigao City, some 200 passengers took cover in various areas as Tisoy battered the province. —LDF, GMA News
