Eleazar does not see promotion as step to be next PNP chief
Outgoing National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar on Friday said he does not see his recent promotion as a step to become the PNP chief.
In an ambush interview with reporters at Camp Bagong Diwa, Eleazar admitted that he has mixed emotions over his promotion.
“Hindi natin iniisip na ganon ‘yun... It’s just career growth. All of us in our career eh gusto natin ma-promote and clearly from regional director of the NCRPO with the rank of two-star, eh ‘yung pagtatalaga sa akin para maging Chief Directorial Staff na may commensurate na ranggo na three-star is a promotion for me,” Eleazar said.
“Mixed emotion, nalulungkot ako... unang-una dahil sa talagang for 16 months eh nakasanayan ko na ‘yung aking mga ginagawa. Nabigla rin ako. Recently kasi di ko na iniisip,” he added.
Eleazar also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the PNP for his promotion.
On Thursday night, PNP spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac announced that Eleazar has been promoted as the Chief of the Directorial Staff.
Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, chief of the Police Regional Office 7, will replace him as NCRPO chief.
Police Lieutenant General Francisco Archie Gamboa will be the deputy chief for administration, while Police Lieutenant General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan will be the deputy chief for operations.
The reshuffle in the police force was due to the retirement of Police Lieutenant General Fernando Mendez Jr., the current Deputy Chief PNP for Administration.
The next PNP chief will be based on the discretion of President Rodrigo Duterte. — MDM, GMA News
