Carlwyn Baldo, main accused in Batocabe slay, allowed to post bail
The court has allowed former Daraga, Albay mayor Carlwyn Baldo, the primary accused in the killing of Ako Bicol party-list Representative Rodel Batocabe and his security escort, to post bail.
A report on Unang Balita on Monday said the court cited the prosecution's failure to present enough evidence that could warrant the junking of Baldo's motion for bail.
The court reportedly noted that Baldo was not physically present at the scene when Batocabe and his security escort were shot dead in December 2018. It also said the empty shells found at the crime scene did not match Baldo's registered firearms.
The court said Baldo, who has denied involvement in the killing, can enjoy provisional liberty for P3 million for each count of murder. He is facing two counts of murder.
The report also said Batocabe's family was saddened by the court's decision. —KBK, GMA News
