Duterte wants faster Bangsamoro transition
President Rodrigo Duterte expressed hope Monday that the establishment of the Bangsamoro regional government will be fast tracked to provide secure and comfortable life to the Muslim people and indigenous people in Mindanao.
“For decades, our Muslim brothers in the ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) have been mired in poverty,” Duterte said in his fourth State of the Nation Address.
“It is my hope that the Bangsamoro transition will fast track the establishment of regional government that will secure and give comfortable life to our Muslim brothers and sisters and all indigenous communities in the Bangsamoro region,” he added.
He lauded the passage of the Bangsamoro Organic Law after almost two decades of peace negotiation.
“Developmental gains will not be felt by our people if we cannot maintain law and order, ‘yung peace and security. We need to enforce the law,” he said.
Duterte said he already assigned a Cabinet member in each region to harmonize government efforts in attaining national development security. —NB, GMA News
