Duterte’s ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman skipping SONA 2019

President Rodrigo Duterte’s former wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman, is skipping his fourth State of the Nation Address.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte confirmed her mother’s decision on Monday morning, hours before the President is scheduled to speak at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.

“She is hands on supervising five grandchildren,” the mayor said in a text message to GMA News Online.

The mayor said last week that she would skip her father’s SONA due to a gynecological condition. She is currently on a 60-day leave from work.

Her brother, Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, also said he would not attend due to his commitment as presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. Sebastian said he will just watch his father's report to the nation on television.
